Countdown to Butchers’ Hall re-opening…

Butchers’ Hall, on Bartholomew Close, is home to the Worshipful Company of Butchers, one of the oldest of the 110 City of London Livery Companies - they can trace their roots all the way back to 975 AD - and are ranked 24th in order of precedence of the Livery Companies of the City of London

Previously, the Butchers’ Company had homes on Monkwell Street in the latter half of the 15th Century, one near St Bartholomew's Hospital that was destroyed in the Great Fire of London of 1666, and one on Pudding Lane that also had to be rebuilt after a fire in the mid 1800s. The current site has been home since 1888 but was bombed in both World Wars.

The Hall was closed back in 2015 for a multi-million pound refurbishment designed by the award winning team from Architects dMFK. The work they have been carrying out includes the complete renovation of the building internally with 2 new lifts to make the building more accessible and construction of a new 2 floor roof extension encompassing a rooftop garden. They have retained many of the original features of the dramatic Great Hall, however facilities such as AV, furniture and lighting are all significantly upgraded.

The Great Hall will hold 250 for reception, 180 in theatre style, 160 for a sit-down dinner, and 100 for cabaret. The Court Rooms will be perfect for meetings and conferences for up to 120 people; and is also a great option for a small dinner. The brand new Mezzanine is ideal for private and Directors’ dining and meetings needing a discrete environment, and the aforementioned rooftop garden will be able to host 80 for a standing reception giving any event a little unique edge.

Occupying the corner site in the completely refurbished St Bart’s Square, Butchers’ Hall offers an incredible all new venue in the heart of the City.

Our team here at Life’s Kitchen are excited to be the exclusive venue managers and caterers at the new Butchers Hall and look forward to hosting a vast array events when we re-open later in 2019.
