Welcome to this latest edition of Life’s News. The monthly newsletter from Life’s Kitchen Ltd-provider of “bespoke catering solutions” in London and the Home Counties.

Our fifth trading year has certainly begun with a bang; despite the challenging economic climate we are delighted to be sustaining our growth levels in line with or forecasts, and 2009-10 looks certain to be our best year yet.

Life’s Kitchen Ltd gains ISO 9001 Accreditation



Life’s Kitchen Ltd is delighted to announce that it has been awarded ISO 9001 accreditation from May 2009. This accreditation tests the quality management systems throughout the Life’s Kitchen Ltd organisation, from the way we source and manage our product and suppliers to our in-house training and staff development programmes. Awarded by the International Organization for Standardization, The ISO 9001:2008 standard provides a tried and tested framework for taking a systematic approach to managing the organization's processes so that they consistently turn out product that satisfies customers' expectations.

Commenting on the award, Life’s Kitchen Ltd Managing Director Nick Levens said
“I am delighted that Life’s Kitchen Ltd has tested its quality management systems in this way and gained accreditation to this prestigious standard at the first time of asking; it is a testament to the work delivered by our team member’s day in day out and our clients and partners can feel even more confident in Life’s Kitchen Ltd as a result of this accreditation. Life’s Kitchen Ltd expands into Larger Premises to facilitate growth

After three years in our current production unit, Life’s Kitchen Ltd is delighted be moving into new premises during May 2009. Double the size of the existing production unit and with huge additional storage space, the new Life’s Kitchen Ltd production unit will facilitate greater volumes of “home-made” products, allows Life’s Kitchen Ltd to provide the vast majority of its own top quality equipment for each event and creates much need office space for our Business Development Team.

Director of Food Dave Pay Comments: “This move into new premises is the next stage of development planned through the Venture Capital funding deal entered into by Life’s Kitchen Ltd in late 2008; these premises facilitate our planned growth levels through the next three years and provides an outstanding facility from which we can deliver top quality product for our clients.”

River Thames Lunch Club (RTLC) at Watermen’s Hall-2010

The River Thames Lunch Club at Watermen’s Hall has confirmed its dates for 2010 and these will be published shortly. This monthly lunch club is booking several months in advance now and it is always advisable to reserve your table as soon as possible. Recipe of the Month -
May 2009

Emlyn Sexon, Company Head Chef at Life’s Kitchen Ltd, offers this wonderful summer recipe for you to try at home and amaze your dinner guests! Let us know how your version went via e-mail to info@lifeskitchen.com

Spiced Chicken and
Avocado salad
Serves Two

Ingredients
2 tbsp olive oil
1/2 tsp cumin powder
1/2 tsp mild chilli powder
Salt and pepper
2 x skinless chicken breasts
200g red cherry tomatoes
1 x small red onion
2 x baby gem lettuces, seperated into leaves
10g fresh corriander
100g mixed pitted olives
3 tbsp caesar dressing (shop bought is fine)
1 x small tin red kidney beans (washed)

Method

Mix the oil and spices together in a bowl and coat both chicken breasts in it. Pan-fry the chicken breasts in a non stick frying pan for two minutes each side.

Toss the cherry tomatoes in the remainder of the spices and oil mix, and add to the pan. Cover and cook for five minutes or until chicken is cooked.

Chop the onion, slice the avocado and then toss in a bowl with the lettuce, coriander, olives and caesar dressing.

Once the chicken has rested slice into five slices per breast.

Serve the salad into two bowls, add the chicken and tomatoes, garnish with red kidney beans and serve with crusty bread.
